Benson Area Nature Group (BANG)
BANG has a big mission - to help restore nature across our area. We want our villages to be permeable to wildlife, making chance encounters with nature an everyday delight.
What We Do
We hold events, talks, walks and more, connecting people with nature around them.
We run conservation activities in our green spaces, where everyone can get involved and experience nature. We aim to expand and look after our green network, both public and the "green in between".
We promote community / citizen science, keeping track of what's in our patch.
Where We Are
Our group covers four parishes: Benson, Berrick & Roke, Ewelme and Warborough & Shillingford.

Our Priority Projects
Our rivers and streams
We are lucky to have a chalkstream in our area - the shortest in the Chilterns. We also have the River Thames, Berrick Stream and Ladybrook, the latter being important for otters and water voles.
Our green network
We are planting hedgerows and trees and creating wildflower patches. We are restoring habitats and often use traditional techniques such as scything.
Our farmland and wetland birds
Our locality is special for several declining bird populations including turtle dove, corn bunting and grasshopper warbler. We have a team of volunteer bird recorders, who gather data to monitor trends.
